ADA — Freshman Jenna Fuller (Countryside, Ill./Lyons Township) scored her first career goal as the Ohio Northern women's soccer team defeated Denison 1-0 on Wednesday evening in the first game of a double header with the men's soccer team at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-1-1 overall with the victory, while the Big Red fall to 2-2-2.
After a scoreless first half, sophomore Rose Nienaber (Cincinnatti/Oak Hills) played a long through ball to Fuller who capitalized for her first career goal in the 58th minute to give ONU the 1-0 lead.
The Polar Bear defense would continue to hold the DU offense in check as it went on to seal the 1-0 victory.
Northern outshot Denison by a 14-9 margin, and edged DU in the corner kick battle by a 4-3 mark.
Sophomore Meagan Grierson recorded her third shutout of the season, recording four saves and improving her record to 3-1-1 on the year.
Northern will return to action on Saturday as it travels to Case Western Reserve to take on the Spartans at 2:30 pm.
