ALLIANCE -- The Ohio Northern women's soccer team dropped its OAC opener to Mount Union by a 3-1 score on Saturday afternoon at Mount Union Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 4-6-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the OAC, while the Purple Raiders improve to 8-2-1, 1-0-0.
Northern got on the board first in the 33rd minute, when senior Sandy Plunkett knocked home her second goal of the season off of a block by the Mount Union defense.
In the second half, Mount Union would score three goals in just under a three minute span to jump in front 3-1.
Sophomore Emily Brodict (3-5-1) made three stops in goal for Northern.
Maria Favorite (8-2-1) made four stops at goalkeeper for the Purple Raiders.
ONU owned a 13-9 advantage in shot, but Mount Union took six shots on goal, compared to five for Northern.
The Polar Bears also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Tuesday when it hosts Capital at 4 pm.
