No. 20 Wrestling tops Williams (Mass.), Lycoming (Pa.) on final day of Lycoming (Pa.) Duals

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The No. 20-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team went 2-0 on the second day of the Lycoming (Pa.) Duals on Saturday, defeating Williams (Mass.) 26-24 and host Lycoming 36-15 to finish ninth of 16 teams.

The Basics

• Records: #20 Ohio Northern (12-6 Overall), Williams (5-5 Overall), Lycoming (9-4 Overall)
• The Polar Bears won the 9th-12th place group on Saturday after finishing 3rd in Group D with a 1-2 record on Friday.
• Venue: Lamade Gym - Williamsport Pa.

ONU Individuals

• Senior All-American and No. 1-ranked Jacob Reed (Canal Winchester/Lancaster) went 2-0 and had one pin and a tech fall at 141 lbs. He finished the tournament with a 5-0 record with 3 pins and 2 tech falls.
• Freshman #13 Myles Johnson (Springboro) went 2-0 at 285 and with two tech falls on Saturday.
• Johnson finished the tournament 5-0 with 2 pins and 2 tech falls.
• No. 12-ranked senior Gavin Layman (Chesterton, Ind.) had a pin and a tech fall at 197, going 4-1 for the tournament.
• Senior Cael Vanderhorst (Covington) went 2-0 at 149 on Saturday.
• Senior Colin Mellott (Wapakoneta) went 1-1 at 125 and finished 3-2 at the tournament.

Notables 

• Both Reed and Johnson were named to the All-Tournament Team as the top wrestler in their respective weight class.
• Junior Teagan Hendricks (Jamestown/Greenview) is now 98-43 in his career and is just 2 wins away from 100 career wins. 
• Freshman Myles Johnson is 25-2 and leads the team with 9 tech falls.
• Senior All-American Jacob Reed is 24-0 on the season at 141 pounds.
