This Weekend's Tournament: Ohio Northern will travel west Friday and Saturday for the annual Wheaton (Ill.) Pete Willson Invitational ... At least 30 NCAA Division III teams teams from as far west as Nebraska Wesleyan to as far east as Ferrum (Va.) are expected to compete in the tournament, which is a double-elimination tournament using the standard 10 weight classes … The Polar Bears are ranked No. 22 nationally in the NWCA Dual Team rankings and are unranked in its Tournament Team Rankings ... Ohio Northern posted a 1-2 record on Saturday at the OAC Quad Duals at Muskingum last Saturday ... The Polar Bears began the day with a 53-0 victory over host Muskingum, then fell to No. 24 John Carroll 21-18 and No. 7 Baldwin Wallace 22-9 ... Freshman Jacob Reed, who is ranked No. 12 nationally at 141 pounds, led ONU with a 3-0 record on the day ... He won twice by major decision and once by decision to improve to a team-best 31-2 on the season ... Reed's biggest win of the season thus far came against John Carroll when he earned a 10-1 major decision over No. 3 Jarrod Brezovec ... Senior Jordan Hardrick also had a win over a ranked opponent, topping No. 9 Dalton Leightner of BW 7-5 to finish his day with a 2-1 record ... No. 8-ranked senior Chase Sumner and senior Cash Thompson also went 2-1 on the day ... ONU has five wrestlers ranked in the latest d3wrestle.com poll led by junior Chase Sumner, who is eighth at 149 pounds … Reed, Hardrick and Thompson are ranked as Contenders (11-18th ranking) at 141, 165 and 197 pounds, respectively, and Caprella is ranked as Honorable Mention (19-26th ranking) at 157 pounds … Reed is ranked No. 12 nationally at 141 pounds in the latest NWCA Division III poll and leads the Polar Bears with a 31-2 record, 11 pins and seven major decisions … Caprella is second with a 28-9 mark and a team-best seven tech falls ... Caprella currently ranks 11th all-time in ONU history with a 106-63 career record ... Thompson is 13th on the wins list with a 103-45 career mark.

Head Coach Ron Beaschler: Beaschler is in his 34th season at the helm of the Ohio Northern wrestling program and currently stands as the longest-tenured head wrestling coach at the institution ... He sports a 353-247-4 career coaching record in dual action, a winning percentage of .588, making him the all-time winningest coach in program history ... Beaschler was inducted into the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Hall of Fame in 2008 and has been named OAC Coach of the Year three times in 1993, 2012, and 2013.
