Junior Logan Painter named OAC Wrestler of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern junior Logan Painter (Marysville/Early College) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 3-9.

This marks the first such honor of Painter's career.

Wrestling at 285 pounds, Painter put together an outstanding week that saw the Polar Bears earn five victories, including three over nationally ranked opponents, to improve to 11-3 on the season.

Painter went 5-0 overall with three pins, a technical fall and a forfeit win as ONU defeated No. 12 Mount Saint Joseph, York (Pa.), Ferrum (Va.), No. 24 Castleton (Vt.) and No. 16 Ithaca (N.Y.) during the week.

The latter four of those victories came in the Lycoming (Pa.) National Duals as ONU won the championship in that event.

He began the week with a pin to secure ONU's 29-19 victory over Mount Saint Joseph and followed that up with two pins and a technical fall at the Lycoming Duals en route to being named the event's Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Painter is now 13-2 on the season with seven pins.

The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday at the Manchester (Ind.) Classic.
