No. 10 Wrestling tabbed as preseason favorites to win OAC Title in 2012-13

ADA — The No. 10-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team was selected as preseason favorites to win the 2012-13 Ohio Athletic Confernece Wrestling championship in voting conducted by the league's six head coaches.
The Polar Bears, under 25th-year head coach Ron Beaschler, received 24 points and four of the six first place votes, Heidelberg was second with 19 points and the two remaining first place votes and John Carroll was third with 17 points.
Ohio Northern is the defending OAC Regular Season champion and enters the season riding a 7-match OAC winning streak, dating to Jan. 11, 2011.
Leading the way for Ohio Northern this season will be senior defending NCAA III Champion, three-time All-American and nationally No. 1-ranked Kyle Kwiat. Kwiat is the three-time defending OAC champion at 174-pounds, was named the 2012 OAC Tournament MVP and was the OAC Wrestler of the Year.
No. 5-ranked senior Jeremy Jones won the OAC title at 133 pounds a year ago.
Sophomore Cody Lovejoy won the OAC Most Pins in Least Amount of Time Award with two pins in 5:30 and senior Kyle Raber is ranked No. 10 nationally at 184 pounds entering the season.
ONU will open the season Nov. 17 at the Olivet (Mich.) Duals and will host the 32nd annual ONU Invitational on Dec. 1 at the ONU Sports Center.
