Women's Golf finishes third of eight at the OAC Spring Preview

WEST LAFAYETTE — The Ohio Northern women's golf team finished third of eight teams at the OAC Spring Preview on Monday.

The Basics

• Ohio Northern finished third of eight teams with an 62-over par 350.
• Mount Union won the team title with a 338, Heidelberg was second with a 342 and Otterbein was fourth with a 352.
• ONU Season Record: 38-16.
• Venues: River Greens G.C. — West Lafayette, Ohio.

ONU Individuals

• junior Marisa Alfes (Bellbrook) led the Polar Bears, tying for fifth out of 46 players with a 12-over par 84 on the par-72, 5816-yard course.
• Senior Amelia Burger (Centerville) tied for eighth with an 85.
• Freshman Mallory Meister (Milan/Edison) tied for 10th with an 86.
• Freshmen Taylor Blackburn (Liberty Township/Lakota West) and Stella Burns (Medina) tied for 24th with 95s.

Notables

• This was the third of four regular season tournaments that Ohio Northern is scheduled to participate in this spring prior to the OAC Championships April 25-27.
• Thus far this season, Burger and Alfes share the team lead with 80.8 averages for 15 and 16 rounds, respectively.
• Blackburn is third at 85.5 for 14 rounds.
• Head coach Chad Bucci is 516-312-2 in his 11th season at the helm of the ONU women's golf team, a winning percentage of .623.
