Women's Golf moves up into third place on Day 2 of OAC Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Ohio Northern imoved up into third place out of six teams on the second day of the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships on Saturday at River Greens Golf Course.
Sophomore Suzanne Short (Findlay) fired an 83 to lead the Polar Bears (23-25 overall) on Day 2 of the three-day tournament.
She is tied for 10th out of 35 golfers after 36 holes with a 93-83—176.
Senior Ariana Tomasula (Rocky River/Lutheran West) is also tied for 10th with an 85-91—176 on the par-72 course.
The top 14 players and ties earn All-OAC honors.
Tomasula and senior Hannah Whisler (Bristol, Ind./Elkhart Central) are both two-time All-OAC honorees.
Senior Heather Comer (DeGraff/Riverside) is tied for 16th with a 95-86—181, sophomore Caitlin Silva (Hilliard/Bradley) is in 19th with a 96-87—183 and Whisler is tied for 24th with a 94-92—186.
Ohio Northern was fifth after the first day with a 367, but moved up two spots with a second round 347.
Defending champion Mount Union leads the team standings with a 342-339—681. Otterbein is second with a 345-339—684, Heidelberg is fourth with a 365-358—723 and Capital is fifth with a 363-361—724.
Otterbein's Ann Jobko holds the 36-hole lead individually with a 79-80—159.
The third and final round will be Sunday with flighted tee times beginning at 10 am.
