Women's Golf is in fifth place after Day 1 of OAC Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Ohio Northern is in fifth place out of six teams after the first day of the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships on Friday at River Greens Golf Course.
Senior Ariana Tomasula (Rocky River/Lutheran West) led the Polar Bears (23-25 overall) with an 85 on the par-72 course.
She is tied for third out of 35 golfers after the first 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament.
The top 14 players and ties earn All-OAC honors.
Tomasula and senior Hannah Whisler (Bristol, Ind./Elkhart Central) are both two-time All-OAC honorees.
Whisler is tied for 19th with a first round 94.
Sophomore Suzanne Short (Findlay) is tied for 17th with a 93, senior Heather Comer (DeGraff/Riverside) is tied for 21st with a 95 and sophomore Caitlin Silva (Hilliard/Bradley) is tied for 24th with a 96.
Defending champion Mount Union leads the team standings with a 342. Otterbein is second with a 345, Capital is third with a 363 and Heidelberg is fourth with a 365.
The second day will begin on Saturday with 10 am tee times and the final round will be Sunday beginning at 10 am.
