Emerson Gray scores 22 to lead Women's Basketball to 62-55 win at Capital in OAC Tournament Quarterfinals

BEXLEY — Sophomore Emerson Gray scored 22 to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 62-55 win at Capital in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Tuesday evening.

The Game
- Freshman Taylor Wagner (Versailles) had 13 points and seven rebounds.
- Junior Lexee Brewer had 10 boards to lead the Polar Bears.
- Junior Courtney Sumner (Ada) had a team-high three steals.
- Sophomore Charlotte Pauling (Beavercreek) added 10 points.
- The Comets were led by Kya Jordan with 14 points.
- Capital scored first, but ONU answered with a quick 6-0 run, including four points from Gray.
- The Polar Bears then went on a 9-0 run to make the score 15-4 with 2:13 left in the first quarter.
- Northern led 17-7 at the end of the first quarter.
- The Comets started the second quarter with a 7-0 run to cut ONU's lead to 17-14.
- The Polar Bears led 34-22 at halftime.
- Capital went on a 7-0 run in the third quarter to make the score 36-29.
- Seven straight points from Capital for another 7-0 run cut ONU's lead to four points with 3:44 left in the quarter.
- Northern led 42-38 at the end of the third.
- Capital got within three points three different times during the fourth quarter, but a 3-pointer from Brewer with 1:05 left gave ONU a six point lead and sealed the win for the Polar Bears.
- Ohio Northern made 21-of-53 field goals for 39.6 percent and was 3-of-15 from beyond the arc for 20.0 percent, while Capital was 18-of-52 from the floor for 34.6 percent and finished 6-of-28 on 3-pointers for 21.4 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 17-of-24 free throws for 70.8 percent and the Comets were 13-of-19 from the line for 68.4 percent.
