Charlotte Pauling scores career-high 20 points to lead Women's Basketball to 73-62 win over Elmhurst (Ill.) at DePauw (Ind.) Tournament

GREENCASTLE, Ind. — Sophomore Charlotte Pauling (Beavercreek) scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 73-62 win over Elmhurst (Ill.) at the DePauw (Ind.) Tournament on Monday afternoon.

- Pauling also had a team-best six rebounds, along with juniors Katelyn Stechschulte (Findlay) and Gabi Croft (Spencerville) and sophomore Logan Phillips (Troy/Miami East).
- Sophomore Emerson Gray (Liberty Center) had 16 points and five boards.
- Junior Courtney Sumner (Ada) added 12 points.
- Junior Lexee Brewer (Sidney) led the Polar Bears with five assists and three steals.
- Elmhurst was led by Natalie Harty with 14 points.
- ONU started the game on a 6-0 run and led 18-13 at the end of the first quarter.
- Sumner started the second quarter with a 3-pointer, but Elmhurst responded with a 7-0 run, cutting ONU's lead to 21-20.
- Another three-pointer from Sumner started a 7-0 run for the Polar Bears, giving them their biggest lead of the first half at 33-23 with 3:01 left in the second quarter.
- ONU led 35-31 at halftime.
- Gray scored 13 of her 16 points in the first half, then opened the third quarter with a 3-pointer to make the score 38-31.
- Ohio Northern went on a 7-0 halfway through the third quarter, including a three and a layup from Pauling.
- Pauling scored 11 points in the third quarter, giving ONU a 60-45 lead going into the fourth.
- The Bluejays cut ONU's lead to eight points with 35 seconds left, but the Polar Bears held on for the win.
- Ohio Northern made 27-of-56 field goals for 48.2 percent and was 7-of-18 from beyond the arc for 38.9 percent, while Elmhurst was 21-of-60 from the floor for 35.0 percent and finished 4-of-17 on 3-pointers for 23.5 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 12-of-17 free throws for 70.6 percent and the Bluejays were 16-of-29 from the line for 55.2 percent.
