Emerson Gray ties career high with 22 to lead Women's Basketball in 68-60 win over Capital

ADA — Sophomore Emerson Gray (Liberty Center) led the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 68-60 win over previously unbeaten Capital on Saturday afternoon.

- Gray tied her career-high of 22 points and was one rebound short of a double-double with a team-high nine boards.
- Gray also had a team-high five steals and four assists.

- Northern started the game hot, taking a 10-2 lead after a 3-pointer from Sumner with 6:51 left in the first quarter.
- ONU went on a 7-0 run to take a 17-8 lead with 3:25 left to play in the first.
- Capital went on an 8-0 run to end the first quarter, cutting ONU's lead to one, 17-16.
- The Polar Bears led 33-27 at halftime.
- Northern extended its lead to 11, leading 42-31 with 5:52 left in the third quarter.
- The Comets went on an 8-0 run to tie the game at 44 with 2:39 to play in the third.
- Northern led 48-47 going into the fourth quarter.
- A three from Sumner gave ONU a 64-58 lead with 2:11 left in the contest.
- Grey then made four consecutive free throws in the final 22 seconds to put the game away.
- Ohio Northern made 26-of-51 field goals for 51.0 percent and was 6-of-15 from beyond the arc for 40.0 percent, while Capital was 21-of-49 from the floor for 42.9 percent and finished 8-of-23 on 3-pointers for 34.8 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 10-of-16 free throws for 62.5 percent and the Comets were 10-of-16 from the line for 62.5 percent.
