Charlotte Pauling leads Women's Basketball in tight 50-49 loss to No. 16-ranked Trine (Ind.)

ADA — No. 16-rarnked Trine (Ind.) scored with 5.1 seconds left to rally past the Ohio Northern women's basketball team 50-49 on Saturday afternoon.

- Sophomore Charlotte Pauling (Beavercreek) led the Polar Bears with 14 points and three steals.
- Junior Courtney Sumner (Ada) had 11 points and a team-high four rebounds.
- Sophomore Emerson Gray (Liberty Center) had eight points and also had a team-best four rebounds, three steals and four assists.
- Trine was led by Erin Sherwood with 17 points.
- Pauling scored seven points in the first quarter, putting the Polar Bears up 16-9 at the end of the first.
- Three-pointers from junior Gabi Croft (Spencerville) and Sumner extended ONU's lead to 22-13 with 7:15 left in the first half.
- Northern led 33-22 at halftime.
- Trine started the second half with a layup, but ONU went on a 7-0 run to lead 40-24 with 6:14 left in the third quarter.
- The Thunder went on a 20-2 run to end the third quarter and start the fourth to take a 44-42 lead with 5:27 left in the game.
- Pauling made four free throws to keep ONU within one point, then a pair of free throws from Gray gave the Polar Bears a 49-48 lead with 19 seconds left.
- Trine made a layup with 5.1 seconds left to take back the lead.
- Ohio Northern made 16-of-39 field goals for 41.0 percent and was 3-of-10 from beyond the arc for 30.0 percent, while Trine was 19-of-49 from the floor for 38.8 percent and finished 2-of-15 on 3-pointers for 13.3 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 14-of-18 free throws for 77.8 percent and the Thunder were 10-of-15 from the line for 66.7 percent.
