Charlotte Pauling leads Women's Basketball in 63-54 loss to Denison in home opener

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's basketball team fell to Denison 63-54 on Saturday afternoon in ONU's home opener.

- Sophomore Charlotte Pauling (Beavercreek) led ONU with 16 points and seven rebounds.
- Junior Courtney Sumner (Ada) had 10 points and two assists.
- Sophomore Emerson Gray (Liberty Center) also had a team-best seven rebounds and led the team with three steals.
- Sophomore Katelyn Stechschulte (Findlay) had a team-high three steals as well.

- Brewer started the second quarter with a 3-pointer to make the score 12-9.
- Denison went on a 9-0 run, but sophomore Allison Schwartz (Versailles) scored three layups in a row for the Polar Bears to make the score 21-18 with 1:40 left in the half.
- The Big Red made a pair of free throws, but a three from sophomore Logan Phillips (Troy/Miami East) cut Denison's lead to two points.

- Northern went on a 6-0 run midway through the third quarter to cut Denison's lead to two once again.
- A layup from Sumner and a pair of free throws from Gray got ONU within one point at the end of the thrid quarter, trailing 40-39.
- Ohio Northern made 19-of-52 field goals for 36.5 percent and was 5-of-21 from beyond the arc for 23.8 percent, while Denison was 19-of-58 from the floor for 32.8 percent and finished 5-of-21 on 3-pointers for 23.8 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 11-of-15 free throws for 73.3 percent and the Big Red were 20-of-30 from the line for 66.7 percent.
