ADA — Ohio Northern senior Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, sponsored by Midstream Lighting, for the week of Jan. 30 to Feb. 5.
This marks Serbin's third career OAC Player of the Week accolade, as she also earned the honor earlier this season on Nov. 28 and Jan. 16.
The latest recognition comes after Serbin led the No. 13 Polar Bears in a 65-54 win over Otterbein and a 69-65 victory at Capital to improve to 19-2 overall. Northern leads the OAC standings with a 13-1 conference mark.
For the week, Serbin averaged 20 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game.
In the win over Otterbein on Wednesday, she tallied 19 points, three rebounds, five assists and five steals.
At Capital on Saturday, she posted 21 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals and was instrumental in a late run to help ONU overcome a 14-point, third-quarter deficit. That run was highlighted by her 4-point play that cut Capital's lead to one point with 1:35 left in the game.
On the season, Serbin has an OAC-leading 98 assists and 58 steals. She ranks second in the conference in scoring average with 14.3 points per game. In starting all 21 games this season, she is also averaging 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.8 steals per game.
The 2019-20 OAC Freshman of the Year and three-time All-OAC selection currently ranks second all-time at ONU with 200 career steals and is fourth all-time with 259 assists.
The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday for an OAC matchup at No. 14 Baldwin Wallace at 7 p.m.
