Ohio Northern announces new Women's Basketball endowment
By Tim Glon
ADA — Ohio Northern University announced the formation of a new endowment for the women's basketball program during halftime of its contest against Marietta on Jan. 22.
Gifts from alumni and friends recently reached the $100,000 threshold for the sport in establishing the formation of the women's basketball endowment.
"The funds from the endowment will help support the women's basketball program above and beyond the University's resources to improve the quality of the student-athlete experience," ONU director of athletics Tom Simmons said. "We are grateful to all of our friends and family of ONU athletics. Their contributions will directly benefit our student-athletes and provide a margin of excellence now and in the future."
This endowment is the fourth in the athletics department at ONU, joining men's basketball, volleyball and wrestling, to receive donations totaling more than $100,000.
Questions on the established or future program endowments can be directed to Jeff Coleman at j-coleman@onu.edu or 419-772-2693.
