GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Ohio Northern softball team dropped a doubleheader at Calvin (Mich.) on Monday afternoon, falling 11-0 and 7-2.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (8-22 Overall), Calvin (22-10 Overall).
- Venue: CU Softball Field — Grand Rapids, Mich.
Game 1 — L, 0-11
- Calvin started off hot, scoring eight runs in the first inning.
- The Knights scored three more runs in the fourth inning to take an 11-0 lead.
- Freshman Alexa Ray (Worthington/Bishop Watterson) went 2-for-2 to lead the Polar Bears.
- CU out-hit ONU 11-3.
Game 2 — L, 2-7
- Calvin scored two runs in the first inning to take a quick lead.
- In the top of the fourth, freshman Ellie Mason (New Philadelphia) hit a sacrifice fly to score freshman Kyla Fry (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) to make the score 2-1.
- The Knights scored two more runs in the fourth.
- Ray had an RBI single in the top of the fifth to cut Calvin's lead to 4-2.
- Calvin then went on to score two more runs in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth.
- Sophomore Avery Neth pitched 3.0 innings and racked up a career-high six strikeouts.
- CU out-hit ONU 11-8.

- Ray went 4-for-5 on the day to lead the Polar Bears.
