ALMA, Mich. — The Ohio Northern softball team dropped a doubleheader at Alma (Mich.) on Monday afternoon.
The Polar Bears dropped game one 6-0 and fell 5-4 in a close game two.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (7-13 Overall), Alma (14-4 Overall).
- Venue: Scots Park — Alma, Mich.
Game 1 — L, 0-6
- Alma scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, then added one more in the fifth and one in the sixth.
- Freshman Sydney Freiberg (Yorkville, Ill.) (1-3) pitched 6.0 innings and had one strikeout.
- Alma out-hit ONU 11-4.
Game 2 — L, 4-5
- Freshman Ellie Mason (New Philadelphia) hit an RBI double to break a 3-3 tie and give ONU a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh inning.
- Alma scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, including a walk-off single up the middle, to win the nightcap.
- In the top of the second, freshman Molly Goudy (Hilliard/Darby) hit a sacrifice fly and freshman Alexa Ray (Worthington/Bishop Watterson) singled up the middle to score two runs, putting ONU up 3-0 early.
- In the bottom of the second, Alma scored a run to make the score 3-1.
- The Scots scored a run in each the fifth and sixth innings to tie the game up.
- Sophomore Avery Neth (Williamsburg) (3-3) pitched 6.2 innings and struck out one batter.
- Alma out-hit ONU 13-7.

- The game was originally scheduled for March 19, but was postponed due to weather.
- Ohio Northern is now 14-24 all-time against Alma.
