WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern softball team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a doubleheader split at Wooster on Wednesday afternoon. ONU dropped the first game 3-2, but won the nightcap 5-3.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (18-20 Overall), Wooster (15-21 Overall).
- Venue: Galpin Park — Wooster, Ohio.
Game 1 - L, 2-3
- Wooster scored one run in the second inning and two runs in the third inning.
- In the top of the fourth inning, senior Ashley Lenser (Brookville) hit a solo homer.
- Freshman Lillie Marker (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage) hit an RBI single to score senior Taylor Hilty (Kettering/Fairmont) to make the score 3-2, but the Polar Bears could not complete the comeback.
- Sophomore Taylor Keck (Wadsworth) pitched a complete game with one strikeout.
Game 2 - W, 5-3
- In the first inning, freshman Jaylee Fansler (Plainfield, Ind./Avon) hit a sacrifice fly to score a run.
- Wooster scored a run in each the first, third and fourth innings to go up 3-1.
- In the fifth inning, Fansler and Lenser each hit RBI singles to tie the game.
- In the sixth inning, junior Allie Wilson (Wapakoneta) doubled to score a run, going up 4-3.
- Senior Callie Rosser (Republic/Monroeville) doubled to score Fansler in the seventh inning.
- Wilson went 4-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Polar Bears offensively.
- Lenser pitched four innings with four strikeouts to get the win in the circle, improving to 14-10 on the season.

- Ohio Northern is now 10-3 all-time against Wooster.
- Lenser now has 112 strikeouts this season, which ranks eighth-best in ONU history.
- Lenser is now second in ONU history with 352 career strikeouts and third with 49 career victories in the circle.
