Boothby breaks Javelin school record as Men's Track and Field competes at Baldwin Wallace Harrison Dillard Last Chance Meet

BEREA - The Ohio Northern men's outdoor track & field team competed at the Baldwin Wallace Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet on Thursday and Friday.
The Basics
- There was no team scoring.
- Record: Ohio Northern (39-14 Overall).
- The meet consisted of athletes from 55 schools across all NCAA and NAIA divisions.
- Venue: Finnie Stadium - Berea, Ohio.
ONU Individuals
- Junior C.J. Boothby (Milford/Clermont Northeastern) set the school record in the javelin and senior Evan Gomez (Farmington, N.M.) won the discus to lead the Polar Bears.
- Boothby won the javelin with a school and meet record toss of 62.43 meters and was third in the 100 in :10.67.
- Gomez won the discus with a heave of 47.94 meters and was also seventh in the shot put at 14.31 meters.
- Senior Connor Robbins (Marion/River Valley) was third in the javelin at 53.06m and was fourth in the shot at 15.04 meters.
- Freshman Brady Giesige (Napoleo /Liberty Center) was fifth in the shot at 14.58.
- Junior Oliver Hendricks (Vandalia/Butler) was sixth in the 800 in 1:53.31.
- Junior Jacob Wakefield (Wooster/Northwestern) was seventh in the high jump at 1.90m.
- Freshman James Durham (Hiram/Crestwood) was seventh in the 110 hurdles in :15.01.
Notables
- The meet consisted of 19 events - 8 field events, nine running events, and two relays.
- Boothby's school record javelin throw of 62.43 meters broke the previous mark of 61.57 set by Dan Arkin in 2015. It was also 3.60 meters better than his previous PR of 58.83m.
- He is now 13th nationally in the event.
- Gomez threw the discus a career-best 49.94m, moving him into second place all-time in ONU history in the event.
- Durham improved on his career-best 110 hurdles time and is fifth all-time at ONU.
- Senior Jacob Clouse (Alvada/New Riegel) was 25th of 119 in the 5000 in 14:54.18, moving him into ninth place all-time at ONU in the event.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 17th year at Ohio Northern and is 618-175-3 in men's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .775. He is ONU's all-time winningest coach in track and field history.
