Boothby leads Men's Outdoor Track and Field at Cedarville Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Open

CEDARVILLE — Junior C.J. Boothby (Milford/Clermont Northeastern) won the javelin in impressive fashion, leading the Ohio Northern men's track and field team to a seventh place finish at the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Open on Saturday.

- Sophomore Sam Scavuzzo (Norwalk/Saint Paul) was fifth of 27 in the long jump with a leap of 6.63 meters.
- Senior Nathan Carnevale (Beavercreek/Carroll) was sixth of 12 in the triple jump at 12.04 meters.
- Junior Oliver Hendricks (Vandalia/Butler) was sixth of 118 in the 1500 in 3:59.44.
- Freshman Brady Giesige (Napoleon/Liberty Center) was sixth of 60 in the shot put with a heave of 15.52 meters.
- Senior Connor Robbins (Marion/River Valley) was seventh in the javelin at 42.22 meters.
- Freshman Cale Wilson (Clarksville/Clinton-Massie) was seventh in the long jump at 6.45 meters.
- The 4x100 relay team of Boothby, Wilson, junior Martin Kreider (Clarksville/Clinton-Massie) and freshman Owen Fockler (Dennison/Indian Valley) were third in :42.50.
- The 4x400 relay team of junior Grant Conn (Medina/Buckeye Senior), senior Zach O'Neill (Holland/Maumee Valley Country Day), Wilson and sophomore Asu Pelima (Euclid/Villa Angela-Saint Joseph) was second in 3:22.97.

- The meet consisted of 20 events - 8 field events, 10 running events and two relays.
- Boothby threw the javelin 3.5 meters further than his previous best. His 58.34m effort puts him second on ONU's all-time career list.
- Giesige is now #4 all-time in the shot put with his 15.52-meter effort.
- He is also #9 all-time at ONU in the hammer throw, finishing 9th of 56 at 49.82 meters.
- Senior Evan Gomez (Farmington, N.M.) is now 5th all-time in ONU history in the discus with a toss of 45.48 meters to finish 10th of 77 in the discus.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 17th year at Ohio Northern and is 602-168-3 in men's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .781. He is ONU's all-time winningest coach in track and field history.
