Boothby sets OAC record in 60 dash, Wakefield wins high jump as Men's Indoor Track and Field takes 3rd at OAC Championships

TIFFIN — Juniors C.J. Boothby (Milford/Clermont Northeastern) and Jacob Wakefield (Wooster/Northwestern) each won events on Saturday, leading the Ohio Northern Men's Indoor Track & Field team to a 3rd place finish at the OAC Championships at Heidelberg.
The Basics
- The Polar Bears took 3rd place with 96 points; Mount Union won the team title with 235 points, while Baldwin Wallace was 2nd with 138.5 points and Otterbein was fourth with 82.5 points.
- The championships took place over the course of Friday and Saturday.

Top ONU Performers
- Boothby won the 60m dash in 6.75 seconds, setting ONU and OAC records in the process.
- Wakefield's winning height in the high jump was 2.00 meters.
- Boothby also took 2nd place and earned All-OAC honors in the 200 in 22.34 seconds.
- Freshman Cale Wilson (Clarksville/Clinton-Massie) finished 2nd in the triple jump, leaping 14.12 meters to claim All-OAC honors.
- ONU's 4x400m relay team of senior Zach O'Neill (Holland/Maumee Valley Country Day), sophomore Asu Pelima (Euclid/Villa Angela-Saint Joseph), junior Grant Conn (Bethel), Wilson and sophomore Isen Schafer (Harrod/Allen East) finished 3rd in 3:23.15 to earn All-OAC accolades.
- ONU's 4x200m relay team of O'Neill, freshman Owen Fockler (Dennison/Indian Valley), Schafer and senior Dylan Dowell (Mount Vernon) took 4th place in 1:30.80.
- Senior Connor Robbins (Marion/River Valley) finished 5th in the shot put, throwing 15.04 meters.
- Freshman James Durham (Hiram/Crestwood) placed 5th in the 60 hurdles in 8.50 seconds.

- Boothby was named the OAC Harrison Dillard Most Outstanding Hurdler/Sprinter.
- The two-day championships consisted of 19 events with 10 running events, six field events, and three relays.
- Saturday consisted of 12 men's events with 3 field events, 7 running events, and 2 relays.
- The top three finishers in each event earn All-Conference accolades.
- Boothby's 60m time of 6.75 seconds breaks both the OAC Championships record and the ONU record.
- He also moved up into a seventh place tie nationally in the event.
- The previous OAC & ONU records were set by Boothby's time last season of 6.80 seconds.
- With his time of 22.34 seconds in the 200, Boothby also now ranks 5th in ONU history in the event.
- O'Neill, Fockler, Schafer and Dowell now hold the 5th-best 4x200 time in ONU history of 1:30.80.
- Wakefield is now seventh all-time at ONU in the high jump at 2.00 meters.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 17th year at Ohio Northern and is 743-172 in men's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .812. He is ONU's all-time winningest coach in track and field history.
