WESTERVILLE — Freshman Brandon Hogg (Frederickstown) and freshman Cale Wilson (Clarksville/Clinton-Massie) each took first-place finishes as the Ohio Northern Men's Indoor Track & Field team finished 2nd at the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday.

The Basics

  • Ohio Northern finished 2nd of 16 teams with 83 points.
  • Record: Ohio Northern (36-5 Overall). 
  • Baldwin Wallace won the team title with 130.5 points, Otterbein was third with 80 points and Ohio Wesleyan was fourth with 77 points.
  • The ONU team is a split-squad, as some competed at Friday's Grand Valley State (Mich.) Big Meet.
  • Venue: Clements Recreation and Fitness Center - Westerville, Ohio.

Top ONU Performers

  • Freshman Brandon Hogg (Frederickstown) won the pole vault, clearing 4.76 meters.
  • Freshman Cale Wilson (Clarksville/Clinton-Massie) won the triple jump with a leap of 13.59 meters.
  • ONU's 4x400m relay team of junior Grant Conn (Medina/Buckeye Senior), sophomore Asu Pelima (Euclid/Villa Angela-Saint Joseph), sophomore Isen Schafer (Harrod/Allen East), and Wilson finished 2nd in 3:27.27.
  • Freshman Elijah Thompson (South Vienna/Northeastern) took 2nd in the pole vault, clearing 4.66 meters.
  • Freshman Luke Stouffer (Payne/Wayne Trace) took 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 15.14 meters.
  • Senior Connor Robbins (Marion/River Valley) came in 3rd in the shot put, throwing 15.04 meters, and took 6th in the weight throw with a heave of 15.40 meters.
  • Freshman James Durham (Hiram/Crestwood) finished 4th in the 60 hurdles, in 8.65 seconds.
  • Junior Jacob Wakefield (Wooster/Northwestern) came in 5th in the high jump by clearing 1.90 meters.

Notables

  • The meet consisted of 20 men's events with 6 field events, 11 running events, and 3 relays.
  • Hogg's vault of 4.76 meters is good for the 6th best in ONU history.
  • Thompson's vault of 4.66 meters is now the 8th best in ONU history.
  • Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 17th year at Ohio Northern and is 737-170 in men's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .809. He is ONU's all-time winningest coach in track and field history.
