Five Polar Bears named to College Sports Communicators Men’s Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-District Team

ADA — Ohio Northern seniors Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) and Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell Loudon), juniors Zach O'Neill (Holland/Maumee Valley Country Day) and Jacob Clouse (Alvada/New Riegel) and sophomore Vova Herdman (Seville/Cloverleaf) were named to the 2024-25 Men's Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-District Team by College Sports Communicators.
Massie, Masterson, Clouse and Herdman are members of both the cross country and track and field teams at ONU.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, each student-athlete must have a GPA of at least 3.50 and must have posted an individual top 50 mark in the region in an individual event (XC, indoor or outdoor).
Massie is a three-time Academic All-District and three-time Academic All-OAC honoree and is majoring in computer engineering.
He earned All-Region honors with a 16th place finish at the Regional Cross Country Championships this fall and was Second Team All-OAC in cross country with an 11th place finish at the OAC Championships.
Massie also ranked 20th in the region in the mile and 21st in the 3000 indoors, and was 18th in the 1500 and 27th in the 5000 in outdoor.
Masterson, a civil engineering major, is also a three-time Academic All-District and Academic All-Conference honoree.
He finished 16th in the OAC Championships this season, earning him First Team All-Conference honors.
In indoor, he ranked 8th in the region in the 5000, 16th in the 3000 and 19th in the mile. In outdoor, he was 9th in the region in the 5000.
O'Neill, a political science major, is a first-time Academic All-District selection and a two-time Academic All-OAC honoree.
He ranked tied for 17th in the region in the 400 and was part of the 4x400 meter relay team that was 6th in indoor. In outdoor, the 4x400 meter relay team ranked third in the region.
Clouse is now a two-time Academic All-District and Academic All-Conference award winner.
The mechanical engineering major earned All-Region honors in cross country after finishing 32nd in the Regional Cross Country Championships this fall, and also earned Second Team All-OAC accolades after finishing 14th in the OAC Championships.
He ranked 41st in the region in the indoor 3000 and 43rd in the region in the outdoor 5000 this season.
Herdman, a computer science major, is a first-time Academic All-District and Academic All-OAC honoree.
He ranked 44th in the region in the indoor 800 this season.
