Dean, Boothby set OAC records on first day of 2025 OAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships

ADA — Senior All-American Jordan Dean (Cleveland/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) and sophomore C.J. Boothby (Milford/Clermont Northeastern) each set Ohio Athletic Conference records on the first day of the 2025 OAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.

- Record: Ohio Northern (43-5 Overall).

Meet Results
- Ohio Northern is second of 10 teams after seven events with 47.5 points.
- Mount Union leads the team standings with 65 points, John Carroll is third with 39 points and Wilmington is fourth with 38 points.
- The meet consists of 19 events, including six field events, 10 running events and three relays.
Top ONU Performers
- Dean broke the OAC record by winning the 400-meter dash in 48.22 seconds.
- Boothby set the OAC record in the prelims of the 60 dash, finishing in 6.84 seconds.
- He also set a school record in the long jump, winning the event with a leap of 7.35 meters.
- Dean also qualified for the finals of the 60, finishing third in the prelims at 6.92 seconds.
- Fifth-year senior Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) earned All-Conference accolades in the 500, finishing second in 1:05.83.
- Senior Ross Schlatter (Curtice/Genoa) was fourth in the event in 1:06.85.
- The distance medley relay team of senior J.T. Basco (Painesville/Harvey), sophomore Grant Conn (Medina/Buckeye Senior), sophomore Vova Herdman (Seville/Cloverleaf) and senior Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) earned All-OAC honors by finishing third in 10:25.72.
- Freshman Dylan Dowell (Mount Vernon) and sophomore Grant Butler (Marion/River Valley) also placed in the long jump, finishing fifth in 6.78m and eighth in 6.52m, respectively.
- Junior Evan Gomez (Farmington, N.M.) was seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 16.60 meters.
- Freshman Grayson Dowell (Waynesville) was seventh in the pole vault, clearing 4.13 meters.
- ONU qualified five for the finals of the 60 hurdles. Senior Tyrese Barker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) qualified first with in 8.35 seconds, followed by freshman Luke Lazarich (Celina) in second at :08.61, sophomore Chaz Miller (Lew Lebanon/Dixie) in third at :08.67, sophomore Carter Byers (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) in fifth at :08.73 and senior Landon Remmert (Marengo/Highland) in eighth at :08.89.
Notables
- Dean defended his 2024 OAC title in the 400 and is now a two-time champion in the event.
- He also broke his own OAC record of 48.40 set in his winning effort last season.
- Boothby's leap of 24' 1.5" broke the previous ONU record of 23' 4.5" set in 2008 by Ryan Robertson by nine full inches.
- His 6.84 mark in the 60 broke the previous OAC record of 6.85 by Louis Berry of Mount Union set in 2019.
- His OAC mark in the 60 was just off his ONU record of 6.78 set earlier this season.
- Lazarich's 60 hurdles mark of :08.61 moves him into fifth place all-time in ONU history in the event.
- Miller also got on the list for the 60 hurdles at #9 with his 8.67.
- Gomez moved into eighth place on ONU's weight throw list at 54' 5.5".
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 694-163 in men's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .810.
