Senior Brandon Ike and freshman Ian McVey lead Men's Track & Field to a 5th place finish at the Marv Frye Invitational

DELAWARE — Senior Brandon Ike and freshman Ian McVey led the Ohio Northern men's track and field team to a fifth place finish of nine teams Sunday afternoon at the Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
The Polar Bears improve to 39-5 overall on the season.
Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 191 points, followed by Heidelberg in second with 129.5 points.
Ike won the pole vault clearing a height of 14 feet 10.75 inches.
In the 5,000-meter run, McVey won the event with a time of 15:14.05, followed by junior Andrew Harden in second in 15:16.09.
In the 800-meter run, sophomore Alec Lunney finished fourth in 2:00.27.
Junior Zane Augustine earned a fourth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 42 feet 6 inches.
Augustine also finished fifth in the hammer throw with a pitch of 145 feet 10 inches.
Senior Steven Gohrband finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 12 feet 11 inches, while sophomore Luke Bogdanovich finished fifth in the javelin throw with a toss of 149 feet 2 inches.
Sophomore Conner Karg finished fifth in the 400-meter dash in 50.86, followed by sophomore Brandon Emert in eighth in 52.17.
Freshman Kody Calkins finished eighth in the javelin throw with a throw of 141 feet 10 inches, while sophomore Alexander Sibila finished tenth in the high jump clearing a height of 5 feet 11.25 inches.
Calkins also claimed an eighth place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 138 feet 7 inches.
The Polar Bears return to action Saturday as they compete at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
