Senior Christian Rupe leads Men's Track and Field to first place finish at the Muskie Duals

NEW CONCORD — Senior Christian Rupe led the Ohio Northern men's track and field team to a first place finish Saturday at the Muskie Duals hosted on the campus of Muskingum Univeristy.
The Polar Bears improve to 10-0 overall on the season.
Rupe claimed three first place finishes in the meet as he finished first in the 100-meter run in 11.09 and first in the 200-meter run in 22.80.
The senior also teamed up with junior Ian McKee, sophomore Luke Bogdanovich, and junior Andrew Harden to claim first in the 4x400 meter relay in 3:30.56.
Also claiming first place finishes in the meet were freshman Ian McVey in the 800-meter run in 2:00.03, sophomore Brandon Emert in the 400 hurdles in 57.62, junior Lucas Shumate in the discus with a toss of 134 feet 11 inches, and freshman Spencer Schulze in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:50.96.
Harden also claimed a second place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:00.11.
In the 5,000-meter run senior Jonathan Wherry finished second in 15:56.76, while sophomore Tyler Kennedy claimed fourth in 16:19.77.
Sophomore Samuel Boyd led the Polar Bears in the 3,000 steeplechase finishing second in 9:57.23, followed by junior Cameron Rusnak in third with a time of 10:20.88.
Senior Steven Gohrband claimed second in the pole vault clearing a height of 12 feet 5.5 inches.
In the shot put, junior Zane Augustine finished second with a pitch of 42 feet 9.5 inches.
Augustine also claimed a fifth place finish in the hammer with a toss of 142 feet 9 inches, Shumate finished second with a pitch of 175 feet.
Lunney finished third in the 800-meter run in 2:00.56, while senior Eric Wymer finished third in the 1,500-meter run in 4:11.41.
Also claiming third places finishes in the meet were sophomores Alexander Sibila and William Wilson in the high jump with a height of 6 feet 5 inches.
Wilson also claimed a fifth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet 3.5 inches.
In the 4x400 meter relay, sophomore Brandon Emert, McVey, Lunney, and sophomore Conner Karg claimed third, while the team of sophomore Denorris Turner, sophomore Matt Molinaro, senior Dan Sowa, and Wymer finished fourth.
The Polar Bears return to action Saturday as they travel to Cedarville.
