Junior Kase Schalois sets new school record to lead Men's Track and Field at the Mike Lint Alumni Open

ALLENDALE, MICH. -- Junior Kase Schalois led the Ohio Northern men's track and field team as they competed in the Mike Lint Alumni Open hosted by Grand Valley State University Saturday.
The meet showcased teams from the NAIA as well as all three divisions in the NCAA.
Schalois claimed a ninth place finish in the 3,000-meter run setting a new school record with a time of 8:34.94. He broke the previous record of 8:38.04 set by Dan Smith in 2012.
Junior Aaren Hemmelgarn claimed a top finish for the Polar Bears, finishing second in the 5,000-meter run and ran the third fastest time in Ohio Northern history in 15:05.79.
Sophomore Matt Molinaro ran the third fastest time in school history and finished second in the 800-meter run 1:54.19.
Senior Brandon Ike posted a strong finish in the pole vault, finishing fifth with a personal best of 15 feet 3 iniches.
Freshman Ian McVey finished eighth and ran the fifth fastest time in school history in the mile run in 4:20.59.
The 4x400-meter relay of sophomore Brandon Emert, senior Christian Rupe, sophomore Conner Karg and Molinaro finished eigthth with a time of 3:28.42.
Senior Eric Wymer finished tenth for Northern in the 5,000-meter run in 15:33.84.
In the long jump freshman Avery Meadows took ninth place with a jump of 19 feet 9.75 inches.
"We really held our own," said head coach Jason Maus. "I am excited to see where we are at headed into our home meet."
The men return to action Saturday as they host the Joe Banks Invitational.
