4x800 relay squad leads Men's Track & Field in Day 1 of OAC Outdoor Championships

WILMINGTON – The Ohio Northern men's track and field team sits in eighth place following the first day of the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Wilmington College.
The Polar Bears earned 15 points on the day. Leading the field is Mount Union with 59 points, followed by John Carroll and Baldwin-Wallace with 37 and 28, respectively.
Seniors Dan Smith and Cory Bailey, junior Ben Ankrom and sophomore Evan McKee teamed up as the 4x800 squad become OAC champions with a first-place finish in 7:44.95.
Juniors Kenton Holliday and Matt Bayman each placed in the 10,000 run, as Holliday finished fifth in 32:58.26 and Bayman finished eighth in 33:15.89.
Looking ahead to the final day of competition, freshman Jonathan Roseler and sophomore Francisque Pierre-Jerome both qualified for the finals of the 200 dash. Roseler finished the prelims fourth overall in 22.29, while Pierre-Jerome finished eighth overall in 22.12.
Day 2 of the OAC Outdoor Championships commences at 10 a.m. with field events, followed by a 1:40 p.m. scheduled start to the track events.
