Efforts by several relay teams help Men's Track & Field to a third-place finish at OAC Relays
COLUMBUS — The Ohio Northern men's track and field team finished third with 77 points at the OAC Relays, hosted by Capital Saturday afternoon at the Capital Center Fieldhouse.
Taking the top two spots were Baldwin-Wallace with 90 points, followed by Mount Union with 89 points.
Several relay teams claimed the top spot for the Polar Bears. The distance medley relay team of sophomore Ben Ankrom, senior Shane Huntley, junior Cory Bailey and junior Dan Smith placed first in 10:21.72.
Senior Travis Isenberg, senior Patrick Rachow, and freshmen Richard Patterson and Evan McKee took first in the 4x800 relay in 8:08.05.
Huntley was also a member of the 4x400 relay team that claimed first (3:25.96), along with senior Garrett Brown, junior Jacob Schwab and senior Evan Heyman.
Second-place finishers included senior Ryan Fleming in the 55 dash in 6.53, senior Jacob Schoenlein in the 5,000 run at 15:35.55 and junior Joe Gutter in the weight throw with a distance of 50-3.50.
The Polar Bears are back in action next Saturday, Feb. 5 as they host the Polar Bear Invitational in the ONU Sports Center. Field events are slated to begin at 11 a.m. while track events begin at noon.
