No. 13 Men's Indoor Track & Field improves to 39-4 on season with win at All-Ohio Championships
WESTERVILLE — Senior Jimmy O'Brien won the one mile run and the 800-meter run to pace the No. 13-ranked Ohio Northern men's indoor track & field team at the All Ohio Championships hosted by Otterbein University Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears won the 18 team event with 95 points and improves to 39-4 on the season. Ohio Northern has won three of its four scored meets this season.
O'Brien won the one mile run with a time of 4:17.55. He then went on to win the 800-meter run in 1:49.70.
The Polar Bears got another victory from junior Alan Bowsher when he won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:15.13.
Ohio Northen has a strong showing in the pole vault as three Polar Bears placed in the top four. Junior Jacob Weyrauch placed second with a vault of 14-11.00, sophomore Andre Lammers and junior Paul Metzner tied for third as both vaulted 13-11.25.
The 4x400 realy team won with a time of 3:22.16.
Two other realy teams placed in the top four. The distance medley team finished in fourth place in 10:33.38 while the 4x200 relay team grabbed fourth as well with a time of 1:32.06.
Sophomore Shane Huntley took home a fifth place finish in the 400-meter dash in 51.12.
The Polars Bear will look to remain undefeated in the indoor track season as they host Friday Night Series Meet #2 on Friday at 6 p.m. at the ONU Sports Center.
