Men's Tennis wraps up winter schedule with 5-2 setback at Kalamazoo (Mich.)

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team wrapped up its winter schedule with a 5-2 loss at Kalamazoo (Mich.) on Saturday indoors.

The Basics

• Junior Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) won twice to lead the Polar Bears.
• He won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles and combined with freshman Noah Ehret (Beavercreek) to win 7-5 at No. 3 doubles.
• Ohio Northern won the doubles point by sweeping all three doubles courts.
• Junior Tyler Wood (Toledo/St. John's) and freshman Dylan Catanese (Lexington) won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
• Sophomore Ethan Remy (Lexington) and freshman Aiden Yeager (Springfield/Northwestern) combined to win 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Notables

• Catanese leads the Polar Bears thus far this season with a 12-4 singles mark and a 20-8 overall record.
• Wood and Catanese are a team-best 8-4 in doubles play.
• Hackenberger is 8-4 in singles action.
• Fourth-year head coach Sean Swisher is 46-26 at the helm of the ONU men's tennis team, a winning percentage of .639.
