Men's Tennis draws to a close in NCAA regional second round with 5-1 loss to No. 6 Kenyon

GAMBIER — The 2011 season came to a close Saturday afternoon for the Ohio Northern men's tennis team after a 5-1 loss to No. 6 Kenyon in the second round of the NCAA regional tournament.
The Lords' (18-3) move on to the next round against the winner between this afternoon's match between Mary Washington (Va.) and Kalamazoo (Mich.).
Northern's season ends with an 18-4 record, after taking home its second consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles.
The Polar Bears' lone point of the afternoon was freshman Do Thai's (Columbus/Bishop Ready) No. 3 singles win over Kenyon's Kevin Ye, 6-2, 6-3.
Thai finishes his first collegiate season leading the team in singles wins with a 24-3 overall record, including a 16-1 mark at No. 3 singles. A close second was junior Michael Kathary (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) finished 26-6 overall including a 17-2 record at No. 2 singles.
For the season, the duo of senior Jeff Carter (Wilmington) and junior Andrew Korba (Streetsboro/Solon) led the team in doubles wins with a 21-4 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in conference. They were followed by Kathary and Thai with 19-4 overall record.
