ADA — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team opened Ohio Athletic Conference action with a 11-4 win over Capital on a warm Saturday afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (4-5 Overall, 1-0 OAC), Capital (2-5 Overall, 0-1 OAC).
- Venue: Dial-Roberson Stadium - Ada, Ohio.
The Game
- Senior J.D. Hale (West Chester/Lakota West) and freshman Jack Switter (Deerfield Beach, Fla./American Heritage Plantation) led ONU with three goals each in the contest.
- Senior Nathan Flynn (Springboro) added two goals and an assist for the Polar Bears.
- Sophomore Cooper Mulligan (Middletown/Bishop Fenwick) found the net in the first period to put Northern on the scoreboard.
- Switter and senior Luke Ferro (Bethesda, Md./Chevy Chase) each scored goals in the second period to give ONU a 5-2 advantage heading into halftime.
- Flynn opened the third period by finding the back of the net, extending the lead to 6-2.
- The Orange and Black defense held Capital scorless for the last 20:29 to help secure the victory.
- Sophomore Peyton Lich (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) added eight saves and earned the win in goal for Northern.
- ONU out-shot CU 43-21 but CU held the groundball advantage 30-26.
