Junior Cole Zaferakis named OAC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern junior goalkeeper Cole Zaferakis (Liverpool, N.Y.) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the week of March 21-27.

This marks the third time Zaferakis has been named OAC Player of the Week in his career, as he also earned the accolade once in each of his freshman and sophomore seasons.

The latest honor comes after Zaferakis stopped seven of nine shots as the Polar Bears opened OAC play with an 11-2 win over Mount Union on Saturday.

Zaferakis is 5-2 on the season and has started all seven of ONU's games. He ranks third in the OAC with an 8.31 GAA and has made 54 saves on the season.

Zaferakis ranks second all-time at ONU in saves with 242, wins with 17, and goalie minutes with 1345:11.

The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday when they host OAC foe Wilmington at 7 p.m.
