Freshman Sam King rolls first perfect 300 game in school history, leads Men's Bowling to fifth place finish at American Heartland Conference IV tournament

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Freshman Sam King (DeGraff/Riverside) rolled the first perfect 300 game in school history, leading the Ohio Northern men's bowling team to a fifth place finish at the American Heartland Bowling Conference IV tournament on Saturday.

The Basics

• Ohio Northern finished fifth of 12 teams with 5,286 pins.
• Venue: Thunderbowl #1 - Fort Wayne, Ind.

ONU Individuals

• King finished 5th individually with a school record 4-game series of 898, which included the program's first perfect 300 game.
• He averaged 224.5 pins per game.
• Freshman Andrew Knight (West Liberty/Riverside) was ninth overall with a 4-game series of 860, good for an average of 215.0.
• Freshman Jake Manbevers (Greenfield/Miami Trace) rolled a 833 for 4 games for a 208.3 average. 

Notables

• The Polar Bears were third after the 4 team games with 3,969 pins, an average of 198.5 per game.
• Northern then rolled a 1,789 (178.9 ave) for 10 baker games.
• Trine (Ind.) won the team title with 6407 pins, Shawnee State was second with 6102 pins and Vincinnes (Ind.) was third with 5922 pins.
• This was the eighth of 10 events for Ohio Northern in its second season.
• Second-year head coach Jeff Robinson leads the Polar Bears.
