Miller and Harris combine for 37 as Men's Basketball hangs on for 73-69 victory at Capital

BEXLEY — The Ohio Northern men's basketball team ran its winning streak to five games with a tight 73-69 victory at Capital on Saturday afternoon.
- Records: Ohio Northern (13-7 Overall, 8-3 OAC), Capital (7-13 Overall, 2-9 OAC).
- Venue: Capital Center — Bexley, Ohio.
The Game
- Sophomore Aiden Harris (Pandora) led the Polar Bears with 19 points with 5 rebounds .
- Senior Will Miller (Ottoville) added 18 points for ONU.
- Sophomore Conye Gaston (Toledo/Christian) added 9 points off the bench and brought in 6 rebounds to go with it.
- Junior J.J. Morris (Culver, Ind./Argos) added a season-high 9 points off the bench.
- Se'Ron Calloway-White led the Comets with 23 points.
- Northern built a 71-62 lead with :51 left in the game in part by making 12 consecutive free throws over a span of 4:43.
- The Comets took advantage of four consecutive missed free throws by the Polar Bears to pull with in 71-69 with 2.1 seconds left.
- But Harris iced the game with two free throws with 1.2 seconds remaining.
- Capital led 31-29 at the half.
- A 9-0 run over a span of 2:24 gave Northern a 41-37 lead with 13:07 to play.
- Northern was 20-of-54 from the floor for 37.0 percent and made 5-of-18 three-pointers for 27.8 percent, while Capital finished 23-of-56 from the field for 41.1 percent and 5-of-19 from three-point range for 26.3 percent.
- ONU made 28-of-38 free throws for 73.7 percent and CU was 18-of-31 from the foul line for 58.1 percent.
- The Comets outrebounded the Polar Bears 48-32.

- Ohio Northern now trail in the all-time series with Capital 66-87.
- Miller now ranks 25th all-time in Northern with 1185 points in 94 career games. Miller is also ranked 6th in the conference in ppg with 16.7.
- Miller is now in the 10th in ONU history with 154 steals.
- With the victory, the Polar Bears pull within one game of first place in the OAC with an 8-3 league record, trailing only Mount Union (9-2) and Otterbein (8-2).
- Ohio Northern continues off its 115th season of varsity men's basketball and has a record of 1393-1091, a winning percentage of .560.
- Head coach Jon Tropf is in his first season at Ohio Northern with a 13-7 record.
