Gaston scores career-high 19 as hot shooting second half leads Men's Basketball over Marietta 90-82

MARIETTA — Sophomore Conye Gaston (Toledo/Christian) had career-highs of 19 points and eight rebounds to help the hot-shooting Ohio Northern men's basketball team to a 90-82 win at Marietta on Saturday afternoon.

- Senior Will Miller (Ottoville) also had a team-high 19 points for ONU.
- Junior Theo Maag (Ottowa Glandorf) pitched in 12 points.
- Sophomore Aiden Harris (Pandora Gilboa) added 12 points as well and grabbed 8 rebounds.
- Senior Mason Studer (Galion/Colonel Crawford) was the fifth Polar Bear in double figures in scoring with 10 points of his own.
- Elijah Harden led the Pioneers with 24 points.
- Trailing 42-38 at halftime, Ohio Northern heated up from beyond the arc in the second half, nailing 7-of-12 three-pointers.
- An 18-4 Polar Bear run flipped the game from a 52-45 deficit to a 63-56 lead with 13:18 in the contest.
- Leading 86-82 with :44 to go, Ohio Northern sunk 4-of-4 free throw attempts to close the door.
- MC used an 12-2 run to tighten things up, and cut the ONU lead to 83-78 with 2:01 left.
- The Pioneers kept battling but Northern ripped a 12-4 run to push its lead to 78-66 with 9:29 remaining in the game.
- Marietta led by as many as 10 points in the first half but Northern responded late in the half with a Miller three-pointer to make it 42-38 at halftime.
- Ohio Northern was 32-of-67 from the floor for 47.8 percent and made 12-of-24 three-pointers for 50.0 percent, while Marietta finished 28-of-58 from the field for 48.3 percent and 6-of-18 from three-point range for 33.3 percent.
- ONU made 14-of-19 free throws for 73.7 percent and MC was 20-of-26 from the foul line for 76.9 percent.
