Men's Basketball finishes up D3hoops.com Classic with 1-1 record after late rally comes up just short in 74-65 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor (Tex.)

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Ohio Northern men's basketball team wrapped up its D3hoops.com Classic appearance with a 74-65 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor (Tex.) despite a late rally on Monday afternoon.
- Records: Ohio Northern (6-6 Overall), Mary Hardin-Baylor (8-4 Overall).

The Game
- Senior Will Miller (Ottoville) led the Polar Bears with 19 points.
- Sophomore Aiden Harris (Pandora Gilboa) added 12 points and grabbed 8 boards
- Junior Noah Langford (Perrysburg/Toledo Central Catholic) and senior Bryce Stuart (Lucasville/Valley) each pitched in 9 points.
- Hudson Johnson led the Crusaders with 21 points.
- UMHB used a 7-0 run to grab a 49-34 lead with 13:06 left in the game.
- The Polar Bears chipped away at the lead for the next 12 minutes and used a 15-4 run, capped by a 3-pointer by senior Mason Studer (Colonel Crawford/Gallion), to get within 64-63 with 2:26 to go.
- Down 67-63, Northern had 5 shots on its next possession possession in an attempt to cut the lead to one score, but couldn't convert.
- UMHB then made 5-of-6 free throws in the final 30 seconds to put the game away.
- Mary Hardin-Baylor led 32-23 at the half.
- Northern battled early in the 2nd half with a 7-0 run to get within 38-33 with 15:26 left in the game.
- A 7-0 run from UMHB gave it a 24-12 lead with 7:40 left in the first.
- Ohio Northern was 24-of-80 from the floor for 30.0 percent and made 8-of-39 three-pointers for 20.5 percent, while Mary Hardin-Baylor finished 24-of-48 from the field for 50.0 percent and 4-of-14 from three-point range for 28.6
- ONU made 9-of-10 free throws for 90.0 percent and UMHB was 22-of-35 from the foul line for 62.9 percent.
- The Polar Bears outrebounded the Crusaders 41-37.
Notables
- This was the first meeting behind the two teams, ONU leads the series 1-0.
- The Polar Bears are making their second appearance at the D3hoops.com classic and now have a 2-2 record.
- ONU defeated North Central (Ill.) 63-61 and fell to Linfield (Ore.) in its 2018 appearance, and defeated Amherst (Mass.) 78-62 on Sunday evening.
- Miller is now the 41st member of the 1,000-Point Club at Northern and has 1052 points in 88 career games. Placing him 39th in all-time in scoring.
- Miller is now 11th in ONU history with 146 steals.
- Ohio Northern continues off its 115th season of varsity men's basketball and has a record of 1387-1090, a winning percentage of .560.
