Senior Will Miller surpasses 1,000 career points as Men's Basketball takes down Capital 87-83

ADA — Senior Will Miller (Ottoville) reached the 1,000 career point mark as the Ohio Northern's men's basketball team picked up its first win in the Ohio Athletic Conference season with an 87-83 victory over Capital.

The Game
- Sophomore Aiden Harris (Pandora/Pandora-Gilboa) led the team in scoring with 18 points.
- Senior Will Miller (Ottoville) added 15 points.
- Junior Theo Maag (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) pitched in 12 points and junior Noah Langford (Perrysburg/Toledo Central Catholic) added 11 points.
- Dallas Tucker led the Comets with 22 points.
- Maag scored with 2:04 left in the game to give ONU a 79-72 lead.
- Langford made it 81-76 with a basket at the 1:02 mark of the contest.
- ONU put the game away by going 6-for-6 from the foul line in the last 43 seconds.
- Northern grew the lead to a game high 58-48 on a Langford layup with 11:38 to go.
- Tied at 46-46, the Polar Bears fired off a 7-0 run giving them a 53-46 lead with 14:33 left.
- ONU closed the half on a 8-0 to take a 43-40 lead into intermission.
- Freshman Austin Shultz (Perrysburg) contributed 8 straight points to cap a 16-3 run in the middle of the first half to build a 22-14 lead nine minutes into the contest.
- Ohio Northern was 31-of-54 from the floor for 57.4 percent and made 7-of-18 three-pointers for 38.9 percent, while Capital finished 32-of-57 from the field for 56.1 percent and 10-of-24 from three-point range for 41.7
- ONU made 18-of-25 free throws for 72.0 percent and CU was 9-of-12 from the foul line for 75.0 percent.
- The Comets out-rebounded the Polar Bears 29-25.
Notables
- Capital now leads the series 87-65, but ONU is 29-20 in the ONU Sports Center.
- Miller is now the 41st member of the 1,000-Point Club at Northern and has 1010 points in 85 career games.
- Miller is now tied for 11th in ONU history with 140 steals.
- Ohio Northern continues off its 115th season of varsity men's basketball and has a record of 1386-1088, a winning percentage of .560.
- Head coach John Tropf is in his first season at Ohio Northern with a 5-4 record.
