Berner, Long, Napier named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators

ADA — Seniors Michael Berner (Springboro), Landen Long (Mason) and C.J. Napier (Miamisburg/Bishop Fenwick) were named Academic All-District in men's basketball by the College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, each student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 GPA and must have played in 50 percent of his or her team's games in a season.
Berner was a three-year starter at center and finished the 2022-23 season averaging 5.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while leading the team with 21 blocked shots.
He finished his career ranked 11th all-time in ONU history with 49 career blocked shots.
Long started 76 of 84 games in his four-year career at shooting guard.
He was second on the team in scoring at 10.9 ppg this season. He also led the team with 33 made three-pointers and was second with 41 assists and 20 steals.
In his four-year career, Long averaged 10.6 ppg and scored 890 points.
Napier was a four-year starter at forward, starting 73 of 75 career games. He is also a three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, being named Second Team as a sophomore and Honorable Mention as a freshman and junior.
Napier led the team in scoring (17.9 ppg) and rebounding (7.3 rpg) this season.
He ranks 19th all-time in ONU history with 1,279 career points and is 18th with 584 career rebounds, averaging 17.1 ppg and 7.8 rpg.
All three men are also two-time Academic All-OAC honorees.
The Polar Bears finished the 2022-23 season with a 10-15 record and were eighth in the OAC with a 6-12 mark under first-year head coach Neal Young.
