Football moves to 5-0 in OAC, stays atop league standings with 56-0 victory over Capital

ADA — The Ohio Northern football team ran its win streak to five games and stayed atop the Ohio Athletic Conference standings with a 56-0 victory over Capital on a warm and windy Saturday afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (5-1 Overall, 5-0 OAC), Capital (2-4 Overall, 0-4 OAC)
- Venue: Dial-Roberson Stadium - Ada, Ohio.
The Game
- Northern scored on four of its first five possessions and had a 76-yard fumble return to build a 35-0 halftime lead.
- Senior Sam Feldman (Springboro) completed 14-of-17 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns.
- Senior Louie Blasiole (Mantua/Crestwood) ran 28 times for 170 yards and two touchdowns.
- Sophomore Julian Ponce (Hollywood, Fla./Surge Academy) caught four passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns.
- Northern marched 58 yards on just three plays on its first possession and scored on a 17-yard pass from Feldman to junior Seth Borondy (Bellbrook) to go up 7-0 with 2:12 gone in the contest.
- Senior Myles Aldrich (Lima/Shawnee) had a strip-sack and returned the fumble 76 yards for a touchdown and it was 14-0 with 10:36 left in the first quarter.
- Blasiole banged in from two yards out with 45 seconds left in the first to put the Polar Bears on top 21-0.
- Senior Jace Mullen (Wapakoneta) blocked a CU punt, setting ONU up with a short field at the Comet 25-yard line.
- Three plays later, Feldman hit Ponce on a 20-yard TD pass and it was 28-0 with 11:22 left in the half.
- Northern then marched 72 yards in six plays to take a 35-0 lead on a 1-yard run by sophomore Zach Olechnowicz (Akron/Revere) with 6:49 left in the half.
- Blasiole scored from three yards out in the third quarter to make it 42-0.
- Ponce caught a 27-yard TD pass from Feldman two plays into the fourth quarter to give ONU a 49-0 lead.
- Olechnowicz scored on a 14-yard run midway through the fourth quarter to wrap up the scoring.
- Defensively, Aldrich had six tackles (three solo) and 1.5 TFL to go with his strip sack touchdown to lead the ONU defense.
- Capital was led by Tyler Love, who was 11-of-29 passing for 122 yards.
- The Polar Bears out-gained the Comets 406-253 in total offense.

- Northern is off to its first 5-0 start in OAC play since 1982.
- Ohio Northern is in first place in the OAC with its 5-0 mark, one-half game ahead of #2 Mount Union (4-0).
- the Polar Bears have scored 40 or more points in four consecutive games for the first time since 2015.
- ONU leads the series between the two schools by a 47-25-1 margin, with a 26-11 record in Ada and an 8-3 advantage in Dial-Roberson Stadium.
