Football rolls to fourth consecutive victory, stays atop OAC with 54-16 victory at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD — Ohio Northern rolled up 497 yards of total offense and posted a 54-16 victory at Muskingum and sunny Saturday afternoon in a battle of league unbeatens.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (4-1 Overall, 4-0 OAC), Muskingum (2-3 Overall, 2-1 OAC)

The Game
- Northern scored on all its six first half possessions to build a 37-9 halftime lead.
- Senior Sam Feldman (Springboro) completed 15-of-22 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns.
- Junior Seth Borondy (Bellbrook) caught five passes for 150 yards and two TDs.
- Senior Louie Blasiole (Mantua/Crestwood) ran 27 times for 159 yards and three touchdowns.
- Junior Jordan Pettaway (Oregon/Clay) ran 15 times for 51 yards.
- Northern marched 53 yards on eight plays on its first possession and scored on a 2-yard run by Blasiole to go up 7-0 3:49 gone in the contest.
- Borondy caught a 72-yard TD pass from Feldman to make it 14-7 with 5:55 left in the quarter.
- Blasiole made it 21-7 with 1:26 left in the quarter on another 2-yard TD run.
- Feldman then hit sophomore Julian Ponce (Hollywood, Fla./Surge Academy) on a 3-yard pass and it was 28-7 with 9:42 left in the half.
- Blasiole raced in from 30 yards out just 1:30 later and it was 34-7. The Muskies blocked the ensuing PAT and returned it 90-yards for a 2-point conversion and it was 34-9.
- Junior Braylen Kennedy (Lima/Allen East) nailed a 30-yard field goal just before halftime to put the Polar Bears on top 37-9 at intermission.
- Senior Cody Dykes (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) made a 33-yard field goal to give ONU a 40-9 lead with 2:19 left in the third.
- Feldman hit Borondy on a 26-yard TD pass and seophomore Zach Olechnowicz (Akron/Revere) scored on a 2-yard TD run to complete the scoring.
- Defensively, senior Cooper Braden (Orange City, Fla./University) had nine tackles (eight solo) and a PBU to lead the ONU defense.
- Muskingum was led by Garrett Gurney, who was 18-of-32 passing for 238 yards and a TD.
- The Polar Bears out-gained the Muskies 497-291 in total offense and held the ball for 36:07.
Notables
- ONU leads the series between the two schools by a 34-26-2 margin, with a 17-13 record in New Concord.
- Saturday's game was the fourth of 10 in the 131st season of football at Ohio Northern. Ohio Northern is now 567-527-36 all-time, a winning percentage of .518.
- Blasiole is 14th on the all-time career rushing list with 1,953 yards.
- Pettaway currently ranks 20th all-time in ONU history in rushing with 1,797 yards.
- Ohio Northern is in sole possession of first place in the OAC with a 4-0 league record.
- Andy Fries is in his second season as head coach at ONU with an 9-6 record.
