Football wins 15th Bendekovic Bowl, pounds out 33-13 victory over Heidelberg

ADA — The Ohio Northern football team rolled up 275 yards rushing to win the 15th annual Bendekovic Bowl 33-13 over Heidelberg on a beautiful Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.
The Basics

The Game
- Senior Louie Blasiole (Mantua/Crestwood) ran 25 times for 144 yards and three touchdowns and junior Jordan Pettaway (Oregon/Clay) ran 19 times for 118 yards and a score to lead the ONU offense.
- Senior Sam Feldman (Springboro) completed 15-of-23 passes for 92 yards and a score.
- Northern built a 19-0 lead late in the second quarter as Blasiole banged in for TD runs of 5 and 1 yards and Feldman hit senior Kameron Cox (Enon/Greenon) on a 1-yard score.
- HU scored just before the half to get within 19-7 at intermission.
- Blasiole scored on an 18-yard run with 5:31 left in the third and Pettaway scored from 15 yards out with 2:54 left in the game to put the Polar Bears up 33-7.
- Defensively, senior Jacob Hershberger (Lima/Allen East) had five tackles and 3 PBUs to lead ONU.
- Heidelberg was led by Ty Poorman, who was 19-of-38 passing for 225 yards and two touchdowns.
- Ohio Northern held the ball for 36:59 and out-gained HU 367-282 in total offense.
Notables
- ONU leads the series between the two schools by a 49-41-5 margin, with a 29-17-2 record in Ada and a 7-4 mark at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
- The game was the 15th version of the Bendekovic Bowl, which which honors the late Ronnie and Jason Bendekovic, who served as assistants at ONU and Heidelberg, respectively. HU now owns a 11-4 record in the series.
- The Polar Bears are now 15-6 in home openers at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
