Baseball takes down No. 16 Adrian (Mich.) 9-7 in regular season finale

ADA — The Ohio Northern baseball team played its final game of the regular season on Monday, defeating No. 16-ranked Adrian (Mich.) 9-7 victory on a very windy afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (26-13 Overall), #16 Adrian (28-10).

The Game - W, 9-7
- Fifth-year senior Andrew Stechschulte (Findlay) and freshman Sammy Roush (Blanchester) both launched homers in the contest.
- Adrian jumped to an early lead thanks to a 2-run hom run.
- Junior Kyler Lapp (Hall, Ill.) hit an RBI single to make it 2-1.
- Stechschulte then launched a 3-run homer to cap off the inning and give ONU a 4-2 lead.
- Roush then slammed a 3-run homer of his own to push the lead to 7-2.
- The Bulldogs stole one run back, but freshman Tyler Rinehart (Boonville, Ind.) launched a solo homer to center to pushed the lead to 8-3.
- Adrian cut the lead to 9-7 thanks to a 4 run eighth inning. However senior Kaden Kumzi (Downers Grover, Ill./Benet Academy) came on to pick up his first save of the season to shut the door.
- 7 Polar Bear hitters recorded a hit, with 5 recording multi-hit games. 8 players scored a run for the ONU offense.
- The Student Princes struck first but junior Evan Russ (Westfield, Ind.) hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game.

- Ohio Northern now leads the all-time series with Adrian 41-20.
- Through 39 games this season, Lapp leads the Polar Bears in batting with a .338 average.
- Senior Chase Armstrong (Lousiville, Ky./Trinity) is ONU's all-time leader in home runs with 29. He is also second all-time in ONU history in walks (103), is 3rd in RBIs (142), is fifth in doubles (42) and is fourth in runs scored (133).
- Fifth-year senior Andrew Stechschulte (Findlay) (172), Senior Robbie Reed (Goshen, Ky./Trinity)(155), Senior Chase Armstrong (Lousiville, Ky./Trinity)(151), Lapp (147), and junior Evan Russ (Westfield, Ind.) (120) are all members of ONU's 100-Hit Club.
- Stechschulte is also fourth in ONU history with 43 career doubles and is now sixth with 115 RBI.
