Baseball loses 15-6 to Loras (Iowa) as team reaches halfway mark of spring trip

DAVENPORT, Fla. — The Ohio Northern baseball team dropped a 15-6 decision to Loras (Iowa) on the fourth day of their spring break trip on Tuesday.

The Basics

• Records: Ohio Northern (7-2 Overall), Loras (Iowa.) (6-3 Overall).
• Venue: NERP #1 - Davenport, Fla.

The Game

• Loras grabbed an early 6-0 lead thanks to a 6-run second inning.
• Senior Andrew Stechschulte (Findlay) was 2-for-5 with a triple and a run scored, junior Evan Russ (Westfield, Ind.) was 2-for-5 with 2 RBI, freshman Tyler Rinehart (Boonville, Ind.) was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI and freshman Carson Stevens (Wyoming) was 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the ONU offense.
• Senior Chase Armstrong (Louisville) got the Polar bears on the board with an RBI in the thrid to make it 6-1.
• But the Duhawks would put the game away with 4 runs in each of the sixth and eighth innings to build a 15-5 advantage.
• Loras out-hit ONU 16-13.

• The Polar Bears fall to 4-2 on their 12-game spring break trip with this game marking the halfway point.
• Ohio Northern now trails in the series 4-3 all-time with the Duhawks.
• Stevens leads the tem this season with a .457 batting average 11 runs, 16 hits and two home runs.
• Russ had a team-high 11 RBI to go with two home runs.
