Volleyball suffers first OAC loss, falling 3-0 to Mount Union
ADA — The Ohio Northern volleyball team fell to Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference match Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.
The Purple Raiders (16-4, 3-0) swept the Polar Bears (8-10, 1-1) 25-9, 25-20, 25-21.
Sophomores Cenzie Yoder and Kristen Davidson led the Polar Bears with seven and six kills, respectively.
Sophomore Jeni Kmic recorded a match-high 17 digs. Freshmen Amanda Volosin and Hannah English directed the offense with 12 and 10 assists.
Taylor Webb led the Purple Raiders with 17 kills, seven digs and four blocks. Julie Radigan dished out 37 assists.
After struggling in the opening game, Northern fought back in the second set to narrow Mount Union's lead to 21-20. But the Purple Raiders put together a service run, on two Polar Bear hitting errors, to finish off the second set.
With the third game tied at 20-20, Radigan put together a three-point service run and landed a kill to ensure the victory for the Purple Raiders.
The Polar Bears will return to action Tuesday, when they travel to Capital for a 7 p.m. OAC contest.
