By: Monique Bowman

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Juniors Michael Simmons and Lydia Weaver both set new school records to lead the Polar Bear track & field teams at the unscored North Central (Ill.) Dr. Keeler Invitational on Friday evening at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

Simmons finished seventh in the steeplechase in 9:13.84, nearly nine seconds ahead of the school record he set earlier this season.

Weaver finished 13th overall in the 1,500 in 4:41.12, which was 0.12 of a second ahead of the record.

Also competing at the event was junior Vicki Moga, who finished third in the high jump at a season-best 5-4.25.

On the men's side, senior Dan Smith came within .06 of his season best in the 1,500 run at 3:50.06 for third place. Junior Ben Ankrom finished seventh in the same event at 3:52.36, his fastest finish this year in the event.

Senior Cory Bailey also had a season best finish in the 800 run in 1:52.89, as did sophomore Mark Berton in the steeple at 9:22.38.

Also competing were Ryan Brancheau in the high jump (6-3.25) and Mathew Johnson in the 1,500 (4:09.49).

The Polar Bears return to Naperville next Thursday and Friday to compete at North Central's Gregory Invitational.
