Simmons breaks steeplechase record to lead members of Men's Outdoor Track & Field at Dr. Keeler Invitational

NAPERVILLE (Ill.) -- Senior Michael Simmons broke his own school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track & field team at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) on Thursday and Friday.
There was no scoring for the meet.
Simmons finished in 9:06.11, which beat his old school record of 9:07.86.
Junior Mark Berton finished ninth in his section, crossing the finish line in 9:17.75.
The 4x400-meter relay team of junior Evan McKee, sophomores Jonathan Roseler and James Rader and freshman Christian Rupe finished 11th in 3:19.53.
Sophomore Phil Farwig finished 12th in the shot put, with a throw of 14.55 meters (47-9.00).
Senior Kyle Weslosky finished 15th in the javelin, posting a throw of 45.96 meters (150-9) and sophomore Ryan Bracheau cleared 1.85 meters (6-0.75) in the high jump, which placed him 18th.
In the 5,000-meter run, sophomore Nathan Rosenbaum finished 32nd in a field of 91 runners with a time of 15:27.43.
Sophomore Jeff Denny also finished 62nd and senior Kenton Holliday came in 71st place.
Ohio Northern will return to action again on Thursday, when it takes part in the Gregory Invitational back at North Central.
