Berton and Simmons lead Men's Outdoor Track & Field to sixth place finish at All-Ohio Championships

DELEWARE -- Junior Mark Berton captured the 3,000-meter steeplechase and senior Michael Simmons came in third to lead the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track & field team to a sixth place finish at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
The Polar Bears finished with 54 points.
Mount Union came in first with 98 points, Baldwin Wallace was second with 75 points and John Carroll was third with 69 points.
Berton crossed the finish line in a season best 9:12.17, while Simmons finished in 9:22.08.
In the 5,000-meter run, Simmons finished fourth in 15:14.21 and Berton was seventh with a time of 15:18.01.
Sophomore Ryan Brancheau posted a leap of 1.98 meters (6-6.00), which placed him third in the event.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the team of juniors Adrian Arias and Francisque Pierre-Jerome and freshman Devon Jones and Christian Rupe finished third in 42.60 seconds.
Pierre-Jerome also finished sixth in the 100-meter dash in 11.15 seconds.
In the 10,000-meter run, junior Jeff Denny captured fourth place in 32:24.89 and junior Evan McKee came in fourth in the 800-meter run, finishing in 1:56.77.
In the pole vault, freshman Brandon Ike cleared 4.43 meters (14-6.25), which tied him for sixth place.
The relay team of sophomores James Rader and Kyle Wagner and McKee and Rupe finished in sixth place with a time of 3:24.97, in the 4x400-meter relay.
Sophomore Phil Farwig came in eighth place in the shot put, with a throw of 14.35 meters (47-1.00).
Ohio Northern will return to competition on Saturday, when it competes at the Kenyon Invitational.
